A walk around the Tottenham Green Conservation Area

A list of the buildings seen on the walk, with some brief notes about them, is available here.

The group gathers outside the former Tottenham Town Hall, for a short address by Matthew Bradby, the chair of the Tottenham Civic Society.

Gathering at the start

Joyce Rosser, the TCS events organiser, discourses on the state of the flower beds on the High Road (the upkeep of which is notionally the responsibility of Transport for London).

The group outside the locally listed former Jewish Hospital, built 1897-1901 with a wing added in 1913. The interior is now subdivided into flats.

The group in front of the former Synagogue, closed some years ago due to a falling congregation making its continued upkeep uneconomical. Although not visible in this photograph, the wooden doors have some fine decorative work to them.

The former Synagogue

By the former Tottenham Grammar School, built in 1908-1910 and abandoned in 1938 for newer premises elsewhere. It was converted to house workshops in 1984.
